Produce your
own short film

An accessible and creative introduction to video making. Over 6 weeks, you'll imagine, film, and edit your very own short film — from concept to finished piece. No prior experience required.

Next Workshop — Starts May 11, 2026 6 weeks Switzerland 15–25 people 🇫🇷 In French
Starts May 11, 2026 6 weeks · approx. 3 hrs/week 15–25 participants per cohort Location: TBC, Switzerland No experience required Workshop conducted in French

Have you ever watched a short film and thought "I could tell a story like that"? Now you can. This workshop gives you everything you need — guidance, equipment, a group of 15–25 curious co-creators, and six weeks of hands-on sessions — to produce a short film you'll be genuinely proud of.

Led by an expert filmmaker and trainer with years of experience making interactive programmes accessible to non-specialists, each session builds on the last. You'll leave week six with a finished film, new creative skills, and very likely a few new friends.

6 weeks, one short film

Each session runs approximately 3 hours and combines short practical exercises with hands-on filming or editing time. Sessions take place weekly, at a location in Switzerland (TBC).

Week 1
Story & Concept
Prepare your short film concept in advance of the workshop. The first session will open with a pitch competition, during which participants present their individual projects and receive structured group feedback. They will collectively evaluate and select the most compelling short film ideas. By the end of the session, each participant will have joined a team assigned to one selected project and aligned on a clear creative direction and development roadmap for the film.
Week 2
Storyboard & Pre-production
Plan before you shoot. You'll learn to create a simple storyboard, think through locations and logistics, and prepare a shot list. Your trainer will review each plan and help you keep it achievable within the timeframe.
Week 3
Filming — Fundamentals
Camera in hand for the first time. Practical introduction to framing, light, and sound recording. You'll film a short test scene together as a group, learning how to get usable footage without specialist equipment.
Week 4
Your Film Shoot
The main shoot day. Supported by your trainer and fellow participants, you film the core scenes of your short film. The group rotates — when you're not on camera, you're helping a colleague with theirs.
Week 5
Editing & Post-production
Bring it all together. A practical introduction to editing using beginner-friendly software. You'll assemble your footage, add music or narration if relevant, and produce a first cut. Your trainer provides individual feedback.
Week 6
Screening & Celebration
The premiere. Each participant presents their finished short film to the group in a private screening. A celebration of what everyone has created — and the beginning of your film's life in the world. Films may be featured on the Sekoia Club Showcase.

A finished film.

By the end of week six, you walk away with three things that last.

Your Short Film

A finished, edited short film — entirely yours. A real creative work you can share with family and friends, or submit to the Sekoia Showcase.

A New Community

A group of 15–25 like-minded people who shared the same creative journey. Many participants stay in touch long after the last screening.

A New Skill

Practical filmmaking knowledge you keep forever — from how to frame a shot to how to structure a story. No jargon, no prior experience needed.

Made for the
curious 50+

You don't need to have touched a camera in your life. This workshop was built for people who have a story to tell and the curiosity to tell it — not for people who already know how to make films.

Whether you're approaching retirement and want to explore a creative side you've always set aside, redefining your professional life, or simply ready to try something new in good company — this is your workshop.

  • No filmmaking experience necessary
  • Conducted in a supportive, respectful group of 15–25 participants
  • Workshop conducted in French
  • Designed for and exclusively open to adults 50+
